It’s hot, isnit?
Scorcher, mate, absolute scorcher.
I stood at the threshold of my flat not wanting to venture out
But it was warm everywhere inside
Everything was warm, everywhere, inside
The kind of warmth that made everything less than it was
Less than it ought to be
A warmth that held the air in your lungs as you struggled to breathe
That dampened the colours so that you struggled to see
And everything was less than it needed to be.
So, I stepped out
But the world was still
Like it had decided to hold its breath
And was still holding
Holding
Holding
A space where everything moved slower
Felt louder
But so very still
It’s hot isnit?
Yeah mate, isnit.
Gotta luv the summer eh?
